Bio
Started in Reggio Emilia, Italy in 2025, the Davide Crimaldi Trio is a collaboration between guitarist and singer-songwriter Davide Crimaldi, bassist/double bassist Mattia Dall'Ospedale, and drummer Giacomo Braghi.
The project focuses on evolving the core nature of songwriting through a sound that blends indie sensibilities with jazz influences. The trio is currently working on their debut EP, Tycherós Voutiá (Greek for “Lucky Dive”), a project designed to enrich and color Davide's songs through a combination of new sound textures.
The title is deeply rooted in the author's Sicilian heritage and his visceral bond with the sea. The dive is not merely an athletic act, but a rite of passage: a suspended moment in which one abandons the land to immerse oneself in another element. This debut record, marking his entry into the vast world of songwriting, represents exactly that moment: a transition towards a new space-time dimension, where the song form expands and transforms.
Set for release in 2026, the record collects six tracks that evolve from a core of guitar and voice into a sophisticated and vibrant trio dimension. At the heart of the work is Davide's musical research, blending songwriting with genres close to him:
Jazz fusion, which in “Bicchiere” serve as a guide through the sense of being lost that inspired the lyrics.
Flamenco, driving the determination of “Danza di Mr.D” with a fandango rhythm.
Blues and Funk, engaging in a dialogue with the psychological reflections in “Briciole d’amore”.
Folk-Pop, an energy found in “C’era di maschera”: an invitation to let go of filters and distances, expressed through the orchestral sound of a 12-string guitar resonating in the room.
